Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

The EFT Basic Recipe


1. Choose an emotional issue (ie. sadness, anger, fear, etc.) or physical symptom (ie. a headache)  to focus on. Be as specific as you can. For emotional issues use specific events when you have felt that way  ie. ‘The fight with my boss’. For physical issues get as specific as possible, ie., ‘The stabbing hot pain in my right knee’.

2. Determine the distress level that you are feeling on a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is maximum intensity and 0 is no intensity:  10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0

3. The EFT Setup: Repeat this statement three times, while continuously tapping the Karate Choppoint on the side of the hand (large dot on hand diagram below) while saying:

“Even though I have this ______________(name the specific emotion or physical symptom), I deeply and completely accept myself.”

4. The Tapping Sequence: Tap about 7 times on each of the energy points (one side or both sides simultaneously) in these 2 diagrams, while repeating a brief phrase that reminds you of the problem, ie. “this headache”.

5. Determine your distress level again on a scale of 0 to 10 again. If it’s still high, tap the Karate chop point and say:“Even though I still have some ___________ (state the problem), I deeply and completely accept myself.” and repeat the tapping sequence.

6. Repeat from Step 1 until your distress level is as close to zero as possible.

Be Specific, be persistent, try it on everything!
